Jubilations in Kogi as court oks Melaye's recall

Youths from Kogi west senatorial district in their hundreds yesterday trooped to the street of Lokoja to celebrate the decision of the Federal High Court to give a go ahead to the Independent National Electoral commission on the recall of Senator Dino Melaye representing kogi West security senatorial district

The youths, some of whom were on Okada, while others trekked, chanted anti Dino songs as they went on the procession round the town holding placards in support of the Court with inscriptions like "Dino must go", "No to bad representation", " Kogi west needs responsible representation " among others.

The spokesperson of the group, Sunday Ilugunka, said the judgment had brought a ray of hope to the people of the seven local government areas that made up the senatorial district.

He said with the judgment the people would now pursue the recall exercise vigorously and ensure that Melaye is removed from the upper chamber of the national assembly.

According to him, the people of Kogi west, as law abiding citizens of the country would mobilise the constituents for the recall of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senator.

Speaking also the representative from Senator Dino Melaye ‘s Local government area, cornelius Olowo said the coast is now clear for senator he described as none performing.

According to him all efforts by Melaye to truncate the process has been rested by court ruling, saying that the judiciary remain the hope of the masses.

In a swift reaction, Senator Dino Melaye representing noted that the combined efforts of Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, INEC, top Federal government Officials and top Security agents to stampede him out of the Senate against the wish of Kogi West constituents will fail we fully, describing it as an effort in futility.
